Subject: Time for change

After eleven fruitful years at the Russian and Eurasian Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace it is time for change. My last day of work at Carnegie will be December 30, and I want to thank all current and former colleagues at Carnegie for excellent and pleasant cooperation.

I am happy to inform you that from January 1, 2006, I shall join the Institute for International Economics (IIE) as a Senior Fellow. As before, I shall study the economies of Russia, Ukraine, Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, and I shall do so in a community of international economists at one of Washington's very best think tanks, eminently directed by Fred Bergsten. I am thrilled by this opportunity as it is a very progressive step for me. Geographically, the IIE is located just across the street from my current place of work.
