Human rights activists to lecture in Russian schools

MOSCOW. Sept 1 (Interfax) - Employees of the federal and regional state human rights offices will hold lectures throughout September in Russian schools, lycees, colleges, institutes and universities, the Human Rights Commissioner's press service told Interfax on Wednesday.

The subject of the lectures will be the rights and freedoms of the people in the country, methods and forms for their preservation and the activities of the Russian Human Rights Commissioner.

The press service said that besides the state human rights activists the lectures will also be read by the representatives of the seven independent Russian human rights organizations.

In the framework of this project, which is being held under the aegis of the Russian ombudsman, many school libraries will receive books on human rights issues in contemporary Russia.
