Readers of JRL might like to know that my book on Russia's transition "Moscow The Beautiful and the Damned - Life in Russia in Transition", first published by Andre Deutsch in London in 2000 has finally gone into a second issue and is once again available via book stores and Amazon.co.uk

The first edition rapidly sold out; this paperback edition has a larger print run and a redesigned cover.

Based upon interviews with Russians from all walks of life and social groups, the book tells the story of Russia's historic transition following the collapse of the Soviet Union through the stories of those people who lived through it - the Russians themselves.
