Regarding Peter Rutland's "After the Great Game", published in JRL #7182, 15 May 2003, #14:

Many thanks to Peter Rutland for summarizing the discussions held in Seattle on April 29-30, 2003 at the conference on Caspian Sea Basin Security. Peter correctly noted that The National Bureau of Asian Research and the U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute were co-sponsors. I would like all your readers to know that two other co-sponsors made this conference possible: the University of Washington's Russian, East European, and Central Asian Studies (REECAS) Center in the Jackson School of International Studies; and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Pacific Northwest Center for Global Security in Seattle.

I hope that these discussions on Caspian security issues contribute to a longer-term analysis of how political, economic, and security developments in the Caspian states are affecting foreign policy formulation in the United States, Russia, China, Turkey, Iran, India and Pakistan.
