Former Russian president Boris Yeltsin has stunned the political beau-monde of Tokyo with his marvelous physical condition. He arrived in Tokyo at the start of the week [31 March] at the invitation of former Japanese prime minister Ryutaro Hashimoto to whom he refers as my friend Ryu. The incumbent Japanese prime minister, Junichiro Koizumi, couldn't hide his surprise when meeting the veteran Russian politician, the newspaper Izvestiya reports.
In response to further questioning, Yeltsin announced that, at the age of 72, he now weighs 88 kg and is 187 cm tall. The recipe is very simple, Yeltsin said, sharing his secret. I simply cut down sharply on the amount of food I was eating; I cut my intake by two-thirds, he said.
