OVER 50 POLITICAL PARTIES OFFICIALLY REGISTERED IN RUSSIA AS OF TODAY

MOSCOW, January 22. /RIA Novosti corr. Marina Uryvayeva/. - Fifty political parties are officially registered in the Russian Justice Ministry as of today, reported the ministry's head Yury Chaika at a Wednesday Internet conference.

In his words, the ministry denied registration to 20 parties in connection with the parties' names or the inconsistency of their charters with the current legislation, Chaika specified.

The minister said eight parties repeatedly submitted their documents after they'd been denied registration, with violations eliminated. All of them were later registered, Chaika said.

He also noted that 5 parties denied registration appealed against the Justice Ministry's decision in courts. At the same time, as of now, no registration denial has been canceled judicially, the minister said.
