Criticism does not mean disagreements between Medvedev, Putin - Peskov

MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax) - The criticism by the Russian president of the government is natural and is not a manifestation of some disagreement between the head of state and the head of government, Russian prime minister's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"It is quite natural for the president to criticize the government, it is not about disagreement," Peskov said in an interview with the Golos Rossii radio station, when asked by the host to comment on the Russian president's criticism of the government for being too slow in implementing measures to tackle the economic crisis.

"I repeat: they (the president and the prime minister) never mix their personal relations with the working process, and, what is more important, both of them, President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin, live and work for our country's prosperity," Peskov said.

"Prime Minister Putin is criticizing ministers, President Medvedev is criticizing the government, and it is not criticism for the sake of criticism. The main goal is to improve the work that is being carried out and to raise the efficiency of this work," Peskov said.

"Mr. Medvedev is the head of state, and it is quite natural for the head of state to express what he thinks about the work of the country's government," he said.

"The government is certainly paying much attention to this criticism," Peskov said.
