Federal agency chief opposes excessive regulation of the Internet
MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax) - The government should abstain from excessive regulation of the Internet, Director of the Federal Press and Mass Communications Agency Mikhail Seslavinsky said on Thursday.
"The government should understand the scale of this phenomenon [the Internet], rather than voice their indignation at unethical information and try to regulate the web in every way possible," he said.
"The labor market of this country will take a hit if there are no jobs on websites. Many industries are unthinkable without the Internet," Seslavinsky said.
"Judging by the agency's cooperation with Internet users and operators, the Internet community is serious and easy to speak to. All of us are interested in the dynamic development of this sphere of our life," he said.
