Chaika Calls For Businessmen To Be Protected From Extortion By Bureaucrats
MOSCOW. March 31 (Interfax) - Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika has demanded measures to protect businessmen from being subjected to extortion by bureaucrats and bandits.
An order signed by the Prosecutor General calls for more efficient procuratorial measures, up to and including legal proceedings, to protect businessmen's rights from extortion on the part of bureaucrats or any other persons, organized groups or criminal communities.
All cases of corruption on the part of bureaucrats should be reported to prosecutorial structures exercising supervision over anti- corruption legislation. The entire complex of procuratorial measures must be used in response to violations of the rights and legal interests of businessmen, the document says.
