United Russia wins legislative polls in 11 Russian regions

MOSCOW, March 3 (RIA Novosti) - The Kremlin-backed United Russia party has won a landslide victory in elections for legislative assemblies in 11 regions, which were held on March 2 together with the presidential polls.

The United Russia party was extremely successful in the Sverdlovsk Region in Russia's Urals, taking all the votes in the House of Representatives, and 60.71% in the local parliament, the Central Election Commission said.

Putin's party also garnered over 90% in the Republic of Bashkiria, southwest Urals, and in the country's southern Rostov Region, and 80% of votes in Russia's Ulyanovsk Region.

In Russia's troubled North Caucasus Republic of Ingushetia, the party gained 74.09%.

The ruling party also reported winning over 50% in the Republic of Kalmykia, Yakutia, as well as in the Amur, Yaroslavl and Ivanov Region.

The Kremlin loyalist, A Just Russia party, received 21% support in the Sverdlovsk Region, while the Communist Party took over 19% in the Amur Region.

The ultranationalist Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) gained 11% in the Amur Region and Ingushetia.
