Solzhenitsyn challenged the system and won - Chubais

MOSCOW. Aug 4 (Interfax) - No one in Russia has done more for the fall of communism than Alexander Solzhenitsyn did, Anatoly Chubais has said.

"The Great Man has passed away. No other person has done more for the fall of communism in this country than Alexander Solzhenitsyn did. Wherever he found himself, driven by the will of fate or the rulers, he demonstrated unbending courage and enormous inner strength, providing an outstanding example of selfless service to the Fatherland and the people," Chubais said in a letter of condolences to the writer's widow Natalya Solzhenitsyna.

"He challenged the system and won. His life is a true example of patriotism and unfading ideals of humanism. Alexander Solzhenitsyn's death is a heavy loss for the nation," Chubais said.
