80% Of Claims To Public Chamber Concern Law Enforcement Agencies - Kucherena

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) - The Public Chamber has received 9,000 claims in the first year of its activity, Anatoly Kucherena, head of the Public Chamber's committee for control over law enforcement services, said at a press conference at Interfax on Monday.

Eighty percent of claims deal with the activity of law enforcement agencies, he said.

"Today, the goal of the commission, and that of the Public Chamber in general, is to pay more attention to violations of the rights of those who do not have money or administrative resources to protect themselves from the tyranny of officials," he said.

Relationships between the Public Chamber commission and state structures in its realm of responsibility is good on the whole, Kucherena said.

"A positive trend to work on problems in the army can be seen. The Defense Ministry, including through the creation of the Public Council, makes every effort in order to ensure there are no closed doors at the ministry. A good relationship is being developed with the Interior Ministry as well," Kucherena said.
