Often they simply don't take the trouble to realize that even though basic human rights are universal, there is a diversity of traditions, conditions, values and situations in the world and everyone should not be likened," head of the Russian Foreign Ministry department for humanitarian cooperation and human rights Vasily Nebenzya said at State Duma hearings on Monday.
"Of course, we in Russia have problems with the observance of human rights, but we are not ignoring them or turning a blind eye to them. We can envy the EU achievements in this sphere. And we have things to do to improve our own situation with the observance of rights and liberties," he said.
