Russian Elites Want Preservation of Medvedev-putin Tandem - Expert
Russia's tandem rulers MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Strategy 2020 Foundation Director Mikhail Remezov thinks that the Russian elites are interested in the preservation of the current tandem and the re-election of Dmitry Medvedev for president.
"Will the tandem be preserved? I think it will. That will be so because the elites want it," he said.
Remezov presented modernization plans the Foundation would suggest for the United Russia election program.
Neither Medvedev nor Prime Minister Vladimir Putin can be interested in the current power pattern, "but that is what elites want," he said.
The elites want to keep the status quo because they view it as an element of stability, he said.
Remezov stressed that it was an opinion of an expert. "You can draw the same conclusion if you follow the developments," he said.
