Putin Praises His Meeting With Obama as Positive

ST. PETERSBURG. June 21 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that his meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama in Los Cabos was "detailed and constructive". Vladimir Putin and Barack Hussein Obama II

On Thursday, Putin met with former Russian Foreign Minister Yevgeny Primakov and former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg economic forum.

Putin's statement followed Kissinger's remark that he had deep respect for what the Russian president had done for Russia and for establishing lasting and strategically important relations with the United States.

Putin was pleased that Kissinger "does not forget Russia".

"You often visit our country, participate in dialogue, and without doubt, you opinion is of interest for the Russian pubic, especially your opinion about the Russian-American relations and about the situation in the United States ahead of the election," Putin said.

Kissinger, for his part, said that he had been glad to learn of the resumption of dialogue between Obama and Putin which he deems crucial for bilateral relations.

The U.S. politician said that Putin was granting him the unheard-of privilege of meeting with him during over years.
