Eighteen percent of Russians are ready to vote for Prokhorov

Twenty percent of Russians are positive about former presidential candidate Mikhail Prokhorov and another 39% are neutral about him, sociologists from Levada Center told Interfax on Monday, Apr. 9, citing a nationwide poll conducted on March 16-19, 2012.

The poll indicates that 24% of the respondents are negative about Prokhorov and 14% do not have any opinion on him (do not know who he is).

Prokhorov, who came third in the past presidential elections in Russia, said he intends to create a new party during the presidential election campaign.
According to sociologists, 6% of the respondents said they are definitely ready to vote for Prokhorov's future party in the State Duma elections and 12% said they may vote for it.

Twenty-nine percent of the respondents said they are not likely top vote for his party, 40% said they will definitely not vote for his party, and 13% are undecided.

The survey, which was conducted in 130 populated areas in 45 regions of Russia, generally indicates that more that one third of Russians (36%) see Prokhorov as a real political force, 40% consider him to be a puppet mastered from the Kremlin, and 24% could not state their opinion on Prokhorov.
