Moscow, 13 March: Members of the opposition, including liberal opposition, could in the nearest future be given senior posts in a number of departments, but this will have no effect on the political course that is being implemented, the first vice-president of the Centre for Political Technologies, Aleksey Makarkin, believes. "I believe that it is possible that in the nearest future members of the opposition could join the system of executive power on an individual basis. And these will not necessarily be posts in the government, which is only part of the executive power," Makarkin told Interfax on Tuesday (13 March).

At the same time, in the political scientist's opinion, there is a limit to the appointment of members of the opposition to senior posts.

"It is completely clear that even if it is a question of a ministerial post, it will not be a coalition. The president and the prime minister will select those members of the opposition, who, from their point of view, correspond to particular posts. This is not the situation when the opposition delegates particular officials, taking the responsibility for their work. This is a question of selection on the part of the authorities," Makarkin said.

In his opinion, the most realistic is the situation in which members of the opposition could receive leading posts in federal services or federal agencies.

"There are many different structures, federal services and agencies. This is possible. But it is a different matter that such solutions will hardly affect the political course," the political scientist stressed.

So, in his opinion, it is enough to remember the examples involving two well-known representatives of the Yabloko party: Vladimir Lukin has become human rights ombudsman , while Igor Artemyev has become head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service. "It is clear that their arrival has had quite a serious effect on the structures of which they have become heads. But the general political course has not changed at all from this," the expert notes.

"The fact that these two liberal politicians joined the authorities - the course has not become more liberal because of this, quite the contrary. Therefore, the possible arrival of individual figures will not at all mean a change or even an adjustment of the course," Makarkin believes.
