The Year 2012 marks the 70th Anniversary of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's heroic efforts to lead America to fight fascist Germany and Italy, as well as Japan.
FDR was also instrumental in assisting the Russian people (and the Soviet Union), by mobilizing America to provide war material and relief to assist in their war efforts through the Lend Lease Agreement. (Signed into law March 11, 1942, the Lend Lease Agreement also assisted Great Britain and China as well). Lend Lease was a major factor in winning World War II.
The Evening will also Highlight a Special Lifetime Achievement Award in Russian-American Cultural Relations:
The Eurasia Center's Special Lifetime Achievement Award in Russian-American Cultural Relations will be presented to Priscilla Roosevelt for her work in trying to preserve Russian Country Estates. Her seminal work is Life On The Russian Country Estate: A Social And Cultural History.
