Medvedev Scolds Government for Inaction on Court Rulings

GORKI, November 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Monday lashed out at his government over its failure to fulfill 58 decisions issued by the country's Constitutional Court and adopt over 200 government ordinances.

He said that was "unacceptable" and "outrageous."

As for the 200 ordinances that the government was supposed to have issued by now, they are not even on the drawing board yet, he said without providing specific examples.

"This situation, which has continued for years, prevents the government from being a model [of the legal culture]," he said. "This demonstrates legal nihilism."

He said the required documents should be developed and adopted as a matter of urgency.

"These executive acts are not just a piece of paper," Medvedev said. "Standing behind each such paper are interests protected by the law."
