Ekho Moskvy Chief Editor Convinced Putin Did Not Order Attack On Radio Station
Interfax - 2.15.12 - JRL 2012-28

Moscow, 14 February: The editor in chief of Ekho Moskvy radio, Aleksey Venediktov, is convinced that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin did not give an order to "finish off" the radio station. "It is not that I simply think, I know that Vladimir Putin did not give an instruction to 'finish off' Ekho Moskvy," Venediktov told Interfax on Tuesday (14 February).

"The story is that when Vladimir Putin started to publicly criticize the radio station, many zealous officials decided that an order 'go!' had been given. They were mistaken. Putin did not give such an order," Venediktov said.

"Yes, we often criticize each other and I hope that the opportunity to express our opinions to each other eyeball-to-eyeball will remain," Venediktov said.
