MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul has explained that, while speaking in the Russian language at the Moscow School of Political Studies on Wednesday and answering a question about the U.S. role in the organization of so-called color revolutions, he did not mean Russia.

"I was not talking about Russia, but the role of previous administrations in previous revolutions," McFaul wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

Speaking at the Moscow School of Political Studies on Wednesday, McFaul said in Russian, "As an expert, I can say that the record shows: I know that we are not dealing with this here. This is our firm policy. Other administrations did this. And this is true. Read your history, guys. It is just necessary to learn facts."

"In America, the change of the administration means a change of foreign policy. (Former U.S. Secretary of State) Condoleezza Rice, who is also a Stanford University professor, could not have been an author of the reset, because she was pursuing a different foreign policy in relation to Russia eight years before us," he said.

"I know what a color revolution is. I know who does this. By the way, this is usually done by people who live (in countries where such revolutions take place), not by the State Department," McFaul said.
