Russians dissatisfied with governors

MOSCOW, June 16 (RIA Novosti) - The attitude of Russians to governors is growing worse as a whole, according to the poll carried out by the Public Opinion fund.

Today, 33% of Russians approve governors of their regions, territories or republics and 25% disapprove (as compared to 45% and 18% in 2003), while 63% are dissatisfied with the state of affaires in their region and 27% are satisfied (as compared to 57% and 34% in 2003).

The new procedure of gubernatorial elections was introduced six months ago, however, 72% of Russians are unaware of this.

About 30% of the respondents failed to express their opinion on the new election system, while 35% approved it and 35% disapproved.

The poll was conducted on May 28-29 involving 1,500 people in 100 settlements in 44 Russian regions, territories and republics. In addition, 600 Muscovites were polled. The statistical error does not exceed 3.6%.
