Power industry reform will not be halted - Russian grid chief
Interfax

Moscow, 10 June: The power accident that occurred in Moscow and neighbouring regions [on 25 May] will not trigger a halt to reforms in the sector, but will force the Unified Energy Systems of Russia to rethink its management concept for the company and certain elements of the reform, the chairman of the board of the power engineering holding company, Anatoliy Chubays, has stated.

"A halt would be a colossal blow to the country's power engineering, but, luckily, I can say that in general at the moment it is already obvious that nobody puts such questions, even our serious opponents," he said in Moscow today, answering journalists' questions on the future of the power engineering reform.

At the same time he said that because of the power grid accident, the Unified Energy Systems will have to return to the consideration of questions of the use of equipment, the technology of business planning, key efficiency indicators, the timescale for repair teams going independent, as well as investment programmes for next year and even this year, and a number of other issues.
