MANY RUSSIANS WANT TO START BUSINESS

MOSCOW, March 3 (RIA Novosti) - Most Russians approve of businessmen and would like to start a business of their own, according to the results of a major sociological poll conducted by the ROMIR Monitoring and the Institute of Public Projects. The results were announced at a RIA Novosti press conference on Thursday.

Positive attitude towards small and medium-sized business dominates in all social group - 93.5% of managers, 92.4% of students, 80% of non-qualified workers and unemployed people and even 62% of pensioners approve of businessmen.

Attitude to big businessmen and company owners is a little bit worse. However, all categories except pensioners treat them positively rather than negatively. The minority of pensioners (42%) approve of big businessmen.

In spite of the public scorn of tradesmen, many Russians would like to start a business, first of all students (77%). Even 10% of pensioners want to become businessmen.

Most representatives of all social categories, including 39% of pensioners, would like their children to start business.
