MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - The majority of Russians (69%) and Ukrainians (80%) believe that the common features that unite their countries will prevail in their future bilateral relations, a recent poll indicates.

Sixteen percent of Russians and 8% of Ukrainians think the opposite, while 15% of Russian and 13% of Ukrainian respondents said they had no opinion on the matter.

The poll was conducted among 1,555 people in Russia and 1,936 people in Ukraine on a representative basis. It was carried out by the VTsIOM All-Russia public opinion center and the Donetsk-based center of information and analysis.

Middle-age Ukrainians see unifying features in Russian-Ukrainian relations more frequently than younger people. In Russia, young people aged 18-29 prevail among respondents who found the question difficult to answer.

Fifty-six percent of Russians and 60% of Ukrainians think that relations are developing in the right direction. 22% of Russians and 8% of Ukrainians disagreed. 22% of Russians and 32% of Ukrainians said they had no opinion.
