Terms of reference

Long term Intern placement (6 to 12 months)

Intern/research assistant will provide support to the economists and political counsellors in the Office of the Chief Economist on the following tasks:

- Provide research support to economists and political counsellors, including statistical analysis.

- Undertake research activities related to preparation of the Transition Report and other Bank publications.

- Data analysis of the Business Environment and Enterprise Performance Surveys.

- Monitor, analyse and report on economic and political developments in the Bank's countries of operations.

- Support the preparation of presentations, conferences and seminars.

Requirements for the job

- A Master's degree in economics or other social science from a leading university, with focus on institutional development, governance or investment climate issues.

- Strong quantitative skills, including knowledge of spreadsheet and database software packages (Stata).

- Excellent interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

- Excellent report writing skills in English.

- Knowledge/experience in the region essential; working knowledge of Russian an advantage.
