Almost 60% of Russians Are Unhappy
SAINT PETERSBURG, July 22. Most Russians (59.2%) are unhappy. This was the result of a research project entitled Standard of living in the regions of Russia, which was carried out by the Social Innovation foundation. 38.4% said they are reasonably happy and only 2% said they are happy. 43% of respondents said they are dissatisfied with their material well-being.
38% complained about the quality of Russian education while 42% are satisfied with the quality of education. 15% said the Russian education system is good. 40% were dissatisfied with the health system while 66% were convinced they live in a bad ecological climate. More than half of respondents (67%) said they are concerned about their personal safety.
The research was carried out from December 10, 2002, to April 15, 2003. At least 200 thousand families from the Central Federal District, the Urals, Siberia, the Povolzhsk Federal District, the Far East as well as other regions in the south and west of Russia took part in the research.
