Ikea plans to open 13 stores in Russia

MOSCOW. July 15 (Interfax) - Swedish furniture and accessories company Ikea plans to open 13 stores in Russia's regions.

Construction of the first of the 13 regional stores has already kicked off in Kazan (Tatarstan), Ikea reported in a press release.

The new store will be launched in the spring of 2003, deputy chief of the Kazan department for trade and consumer services, Ramilya Latfullina, said.

Ikea plans to invest $400 million in Russia over the next three years. Two new stores in Moscow and St Petersburg are also in the pipeline.
