MOSCOW. July 14 (Interfax) - At a meeting in the Kremlin on Monday, Communications Minister Leonid Reiman told President Vladimir Putin that "Russia has had seen a considerable rise in the number of Internet users obyabout 2.2 times."

The minister noted that "[the Internet] is being stressed at schools and [other priorities include] setting up points of collective Internet access at post offices, which number over 3,000 in Russia.

Reiman informed the head of state about the results of the industry's development in the first half of this year by saying that "the industry has been growing and the infrastructure has been developing steadily at a rate of 46%."

He reported that the Communications Ministry has been sparing no efforts to translate presidential instructions into action and has been advancing communications services in the countryside at a rapid pace.
