Russian presidential website launches English version

Moscow, 20 June: The English-language version of the Russian president's official website was opened today.

Among other things, Vladimir Putin's address to the readers says: "As an integral member of the global community, Russia considers Internet to be an indispensable tool in the modern times for fast and easy access to information.

"I hope you find this web site useful and interesting as the first-hand source of daily updated news about Russia in general, its government, political and economical priorities."

As of 1200 Moscow time [0800 gmt] 20 June, the English version is accessible at the following address: www.kremlin.ru, English version.

The English version was opened a year after the launch of the Russian president's upgraded official site.
