Subject: A Vilnius novel

Having read the article on your site featuring the six new novels dealing with ex-pats in the Eastern Bloc - I thought perhaps you might be interested in my novel due to be published Friday 20th June in the US by St Martins Press, already available in UK in hardback published by Sceptre (Hodder and Stoughton).

The novel is set in Vilnius, Lithuania, where I lived in 1995-6. It is perhaps a little of a contrast to some of those reviewed.

Below are just a couple of quotes from reviews it has received.

“astoundingly complex…The city – tenderly drawn – feels tense, vivid, effortlessly real…successfully encompasses passion, morality, history and art.” The Guardian (UK)

“The tragedies of recent Lithuanian history form the backdrop for Collishaw's impressive first novel. This is bleak stuff, but Steponas is good company, an intelligent tour guide to both contemporary Vilnius and its harrowing past. His voice, combined with Collishaw’s assured handling of this difficult subject, make for an absorbing debut.” Publishers Weekly
