18% of Russians approve of federal govt. work, 41% do not - poll

MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - Eighteen percent of Russians approve of the federal government's work, while 41% feel the opposite. The correlation was more favorable for the government (24% to 37%) in December 2002, the Public Opinion Foundation reports.

The Foundation polled 1,500 town and village residents nationwide in early May. Interfax obtained the data from the poll on Thursday.

The overwhelming majority of respondents (72%) said their attitude toward the Cabinet of Mikhail Kasyanov had not changed over the past few months. Three percent said their attitude had improved, and 12% said the opposite.
