Half of Russians are in love, poll shows

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - An estimated 51% of Russians are in love now. This information comes from a poll of 1,600 respondents conducted by the All-Russian Center for Public Opinion Research before St. Valentine's Day (February 14). However, 42% of respondents said they do not have such feelings.

The percentage of women who said they are in love is higher among people younger than 30, while the percentage of men in love is higher among men older than 30.

Sociologists have found a connection between the respondents' romantic feelings and their marital status. Most people who said they are in love live together without being married (83%). The percentage of people in love is also high among married people. The percentage of people in love is lowest among divorcees and widowed individuals.

At the same time, sociologists with ROMIR Monitoring found that most Russians (65%) are not planning to celebrate St. Valentine's Day. Only one-third of respondents (34%) said they would celebrate this holiday.
