Itar-Tass

Moscow, 28 November: Almost 10 million people have emigrated to Russia from other CIS countries and the Baltic states since the beginning of the 1990s, State Statistics Committee Chairman Vladimir Sokolin has said.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday [28 November], he said that migration has decreased dramatically lately, and now 250,000 to 300,000 more people enter Russia and leave it ...

In 1990-1999, migrants increased Russia's population by 4.3 million. In 2000, migrants made up for only 16 per cent of the decrease in Russia's population due to natural causes.
