Subject: question re NTV and TV6 Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2001

Does anyone know what has happened to NTV International, NTV and TV6?. I'm not in Moscow at this time, and have been watching a pretty good combination of NTV and TV6 on NTV International. Beginning Sunday, Itogi did not appear, and all this week all news programs have been cancelled. I caught one intriguing fragment by Andrei Norkin saying that he hoped everyone would understand, but they just couldn't go on in the current situation. Then, later in the week, a printed notice went up saying that due to technical and juridical reasons, the normal TV schedule was being altered and asking the audience to stay with them. I called NTVi in New York and a very polite woman said that "they" had promised them that programming would be back to normal next week, but she didn't say what had happened. Finally, I got on russky.com and their chat room is filled with the same question, but no answers. Nor have I seen anything in the Moscow Times, but I may have missed something there. Any information, on-list or off, would be greatly appreciated.
