APPEAL FROM STEPHEN D. SHENFIELD,
EDITOR OF THE RESEARCH AND ANALYTICAL SUPPLEMENT
The first issue of the Research and Analytical Supplement
was distributed earlier this month. David and I received
some very encouraging responses. I am now working on the
second issue.
Quite a few people have promised to write pieces for the
RAS. But these are promises for some more or less distant,
more or less definite, future time. So far I have not
actually received a single article from anyone! If
necessary, the second issue can consist, as the first
one did, mainly or wholly of material written by myself,
but it would be much better if it could also include
articles, reports, and reviews written by other people.
I understand that writing for the RAS cannot be a top
priority for busy researchers. It is, however, a way in
which you can bring your work to the attention of
thousands of interested people in all walks of life with
an interest in Russia. In addition to the satisfaction of
taking part in an exciting new project, you are likely to
get some interesting feedback and make useful new contacts.
I am looking for short pieces, anything from 100 to 1,000
words, clearly written, interesting and accessible to
non-specialists.
So please consider again if there is not something you
can usefully contribute to the RAS, and share your ideas
with me at shenfield@neaccess.net
