Fifty-five Swine Flu Cases Reported in Russia - Onishchenko

MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - The number of Russian citizens diagnosed with the H1N1 swine flu virus has reached 55, Russia's chief epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko told a news conference on Monday.

"We have officially reported 55 cases that have already been confirmed. But there are other suspicious cases," Onishchenko said.

A lot of Russians are now returning home after their vacations abroad, the official said.

The largest number of swine flu cases has been diagnosed among tourists who have returned from the UK, Onishchenko said. Cases of this disease have also been reported among people who have spent their vacations in Spain, Turkey and Bulgaria, he added.

"Practically none of our citizens' beloved holiday destinations has "denied itself the pleasure" of exporting people infected with swine flu to our country," Onishchenko said.
