U.S. Delegation To Visit Abkhazia

SUKHUMI. May 8 (Interfax) - A U.S. diplomatic delegation will arrive in Abkhazia on May 10 for a two-day visit and meet with the leaders of the unrecognized republic and local non-governmental organizations, a source in the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry told Interfax.

The delegation will include Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Bryza, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Tefft and State Department Foreign Service Officer Michael Carpenter. Abkhaz President Sergei Bagapsh will receive the delegation.

On the afternoon of May 10, the delegation will visit the Abkhaz resort of Gagra, and on May 11 it will meet with representatives of the UN mission, Abkhaz presidential representative Ruslan Kishmaria and local non-governmental organizations in the Gali district.
