Medvedev calls on law enforcement to be ready to stop attempts to re-divide property

ST. PETERSBURG. Nov 7 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has demanded that any attempts to re-divide property that make take place during the world financial crisis be stopped.

"There is an indirect effect (of the financial crisis): people want to re-divide markets, assets, and settle their accounts in business and in the criminal sphere," Medvedev said at a meeting addressing the improvement of the work of the law enforcement agencies in Russia. "We cannot tolerate it, we need to be ready for it," he said.

"We are a stable country, we don't want to go back to the 1990s, when everything was boiling," Medvedev said.

The president called on the law enforcement agencies and the authorities to closely monitor these processes. "We need to intervene in this, take measures, react, open criminal cases, otherwise there will be no order," he said.
