Liberal Yavlinsky Says Sees No Sign Of A Political Spring In Russia
MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The election of a new president in Russia does not seem to justify hope for a political spring in Russia, Grigory Yavlinsky, a leader of the opposition Yabloko party, said in Moscow on Thursday.
"I have some hope, but I have no real foundation for it," he said when asked whether he hoped the new Russian president would usher a political "spring" in Russia.
Asked what he expected from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Yavlinsky said: "I expect that his rhetoric will be matched by real action more and more."
Asked about his attitude toward Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, he said: "Politician Vladimir Putin is my opponent. We have different views on strategic issues of the country's development.
