Influential United Russia MP Backs Mironov's Proposals On Presidential Term

MOSCOW. March 30 (Interfax) - First Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Lyubov Sliska has backed the idea of a constitutional extension of the presidential term in office. However, she believes that the final decision rests with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I think the initiative is good. The president could be in office for five or maybe even seven years, rather than four years, and the president may serve for example for three, not two, terms in such a large country as Russia," Sliska said commenting on Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov's proposal to amend the Russian Constitution.

"In any case, I am certain that Putin will make the final decision," she said.
