RIA-Novosti

Moscow, 23 November: The number of Russians who know for certain what One Russia's election campaign entitled Putin's Plan is about grew from 4 to 47 per cent over the last two months, according to a poll carried out by the (state-controlled) All-Russia Centre for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).

The number of those who heard something about the plan grew from 22 to 47 per cent. According to the poll, the number of uninformed respondents fell from 65 to 35 per cent. However, the level of awareness of the subject is higher in Moscow and St Petersburg (72 per cent) than in other Russian cities, towns and villages (55-61 per cent).

The number of Russians who think they are informed about Putin's Plan but find it difficult to say what it is all about, fell over the week (from 48 to 43 per cent).

According to those who are well-informed or know something about Putin's Plan, One Russia's election campaign priorities are: an increase in people's well being, social development (18 per cent), Russia's revival and welfare (13 per cent), economic development (9 per cent).

The majority of respondents (78 per cent) think that Russia must develop following one clear plan. Only 8 per cent of the respondents disagree with them. The idea of a single development plan for the country is more popular among supporters of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (89 per cent) than among supporters of One Russia (82 per cent), Communist Party of Russia (78 per cent) and A Just Russia (77 per cent).

VTsIOM carried out the initiative poll between 17-18 November 2007. The number of people that took part in it was 1,600 in 153 settlements, 46 regions, territories and republics of Russia.
