Rigid chain of authority is important for Russia - State Duma speaker
Interfax

Moscow, 30 September: The chairman of the State Duma and leader of the One Russia party, Boris Gryzlov thinks that the rigid vertical chain of authority is the most appropriate one for Russia.

"I think that the rigid vertical chain of authority is very important for Russia. It is the system in which our country is developing and will be developing in the future," Gryzlov said on Sunday (30 September) in his address to One Russia's third all-Russian media forum.

"Those years when Russia's constituent parts and territories were offered ultimate sovereignty were the worst years in our country's existence," he said.

One Russia's leader said that since 2000 serious attempts have been taken by both executive and legislative authorities to restore the integrity of our country, to build the vertical chain of authority; and all regulations and charters of Russia's constituent parts were brought to compliance with the main law (the constitution of the Russian Federation).

"I believe that our state is currently functioning in line with the system which allows Russia to return to the list of most progressive countries in the world, to become competitive again and to gain the respect of all other countries again," Gryzlov said.
