Young Russians prefer good manager for president; older people disagree

MOSCOW. Sept 17 (Interfax) - A majority of Russians believe that the president has enough powers and nothing should be changed.

The opinions about an ideal president split almost in half, the Russian Public Opinion Study Center (VTsIOM) told Interfax on Monday in comments on a recent poll held in 153 towns and cities in 46 regions this July.

Forty-eight percent of the respondents think that the president should be a wise politician and "the father of the nation," while 42% think that he should be a modern and effective manager, the center said.

Respondents younger than 35 prefer a good manager (48-49% to 39-42% who think the opposite), while respondents older than 45 prefer the father of the nation (51-59% to 34-39%).

Fifty-eight percent of the respondents think that the president has enough powers.
