Georgian deputy foreign minister: Russia continues traditions of Soviet insolent diplomacy

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister, former state secretary for conflict settlement, Merab Antadze commenting on a statement made by Russian Envoy to the UN Vitaly Churkin about the August 6 missile incident, called it continuation of the tradition of "the Soviet, insolent form of Russian diplomacy," a REGNUM correspondent informs.

"It is an old, Soviet insolent form of the Russian diplomacy, which is, unfortunately, continuing despite facts evident for everyone," said Merab Antadze. "I think that the conclusion of the last commissions that carried out inspections that are very competent gives hope that the issue would be seriously considered at all international organizations, including the United Nations," he noted.

Earlier, Russia's Envoy to the UN Vitaly Churkin announced at a news conference at the UN that "the scenario of the August 6 incident presented by Georgia is absolutely absurd and posed as its task to discredit Russia's reputation as peacekeeper and mediator in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict."
