Illarionov dismisses rumors of offer to become Saakashvili's aide

TBILISI. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Former aide to the Russian President Andrei Illarionov, who is currently in Tbilisi, has dismissed rumors in some media organizations that Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has offered him the position of aide on economic issues.

"I had a meeting with the Georgian president. However, no offer to become his aide was made," he said at a press conference on Monday.

He declined to answer the question of whether he will accept such an offer if made. "I cannot comment on offers that do not exist," he said.

"Georgia's economic development was discussed at the meeting with Saakashvili," Illarionov said.
