Georgian foreign ministry: “Russia will be isolated from democratic community”
http://www.regnum.ru/english/715454.html

Georgian foreign ministry press and information department released a comment in connection with transport sanctions against Georgia introduced by Russia. “Russia responds with economic sanctions to our country’s successes on the way of democracy establishment: export of vegetable production, wine, and mineral waters is banned from Georgia; the only legitimate customs check-point is closed,” the Georgian FM stressed. “The Russian Federation deputy transport minister explained: Georgian airlines’ flights were banned because of existence of accounts receivable. The ministry requests to submit certain documentation on these allegations for its further reexamination and reconsideration in its official message. Clear contradiction between verbal statements and official messages directly points out political motivation of the decisions.”

“It is noteworthy that all those actions were carried out violating the agreement between Georgia and Russia on international air communication from October 8, 1993,” it is stressed at the Georgian FM, too. “One more prohibitive sanction was adopted, seriously violating existing legal basis in particular, agreement between Georgia and Russian international automobile communication from February 3, 1994. We should stress that Georgia as usually acts, observing all laws and norms; it remains open for transport companies of all countries despite any actions of the Russian side.”

“Attention should be paid to repressive actions against Georgian citizens in the Russian territory, including children,” it is stressed in the statement. “It is a direct continuation of the policy pursued by Moscow towards both ethnic minorities especially Caucasian residents, which live in their own country, and people of another ethnic origin, who have come from other states, as a result of which, aggressive xenophobia strengthens itself in Russian society. Unfortunately, Moscow does not recognize that due to such policy it demonstrates its true face in the world community’s opinion, as well as the true direction of its development, as a result of which Russia will be finally isolated from the democratic community.”

"Finally, we want stress that the Georgian government has clearly determined aims and priorities of the country’s development; they are being fulfilled in construction of a law-abiding democratic state and integration into Euro-Atlantic structures. Aggressive statements and inadequate actions of Russia will not stop this irreversible process," the statement by the Georgian foreign ministry says.
